The 15th Chinese Golden Bell Award for Music has been awarded toTheSymphonyof Fengyasong,a grand national symphony composed by Mr. Zhao Jiping, a distinguished adjunct professor at Xi’an Shiyou University. The workwas listed among the award-winning works in the National Orchestral Music category.

TheSymphonyof Fengyasong,a major workjointlycommissionedby the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Chinese Musicians’ Association,draws its creative inspiration fromthe Book of Songs, a treasure of China’s outstanding traditional culture.The work masterfully blends traditional Chinese musical language with modern composition techniques. Zhao Jiping, a renowned composer, professor, and doctoral supervisor,holds the leadership ofthe Chinese Musicians’Association (Honorary), the Shaanxi Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and the Music Copyright Society of China.He is a National People’s Congress deputy and a nationally recognised expert with outstanding contributions. Professor Zhao’s distinguishedcareerencompassestenures as Vice President of the Shaanxi Opera Research Institute and President of the Shaanxi Song and Dance Theater, as well as leadership in academia as Head and Distinguished Professor of the Music Department at Xi’an Shiyou University.His creative output spans symphonic works, national orchestral compositions, and film and television scores. Representative works includeSymphony No. 1,the symphonysuitQiao’s Grand Courtyard,andsoundtracks for iconic films and TV dramas such asYellow Earth, Red Sorghum, and Water Margin.He has won numerous prestigious awards at home and abroad, including Best Music at theChina’sGolden Rooster Awards and China TV Golden Eagle Awards, Best Music at the Nantes Three Continents Film Festival in France, and the“Artistic Achievement Award”at China Gold Record Award.
