The grand opening of the 2025 Refining & ChemicalTech Conference and the 5thGreen Innovation Forum, which was co-organized by Xi’an Shiyou University and CNOOC, was heldatthe Yanta conference center from October 23rdto 24th. This conference takes “ green and intelligent development driven by technological innovation and industrial updating ” as the theme. More than 200 academicians, specialists and scholars, representatives of related professional fieldsacross the countryengaged in adiscussion. It focuses on the new path and tendency of green and intelligent chemistryin the contextof technological innovation and industrial updating.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Hou Zhanggui, the assistant dean of the CNOOC Institute of Chemical and New Materials Science. On behalf of the organizer, Wang Jinfu, thepresidentof this university, delivered a welcome speech. He delivered several points of energy.Firstly, energy is the vein of the national economy. The high-quality development of energy and chemistry is not only related to the overall situation of energy security, also more closely related to sustainable development and green and low-carbon transition of the society. Besides, green, low-carbon and intelligence has been a clear orientation and inevitable tendency of the energy and chemicaldevelopment due to a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation. Under the circumstance of carbon neutrality and carbon peaking, we shoulder a grand mission---making industries become high-level, intelligent and green by technological innovation. For the past few years, the university has focused on the demand of green and low-carbon energy transformation, optimized the discipline layout, strengthened the systematic scientific research, and achieved a series of achievements and advances in the green exploration of oil and gas, efficient refining, new energy, prevention from pollution.
We are glad to take this conference as a chance to work together with specialists, scholars and colleagues to explore a new path for green development, breakthrough the core technology to contribute to the progress from a major country of energy and chemistry to a leading country in energy field.
Li Huichao, the executive and deputy secretary of CNOOCParty Committeedelivered a speech. Firstly, CNOOC will setgoals forachieving efficient and value-added application ofoffshore oil,leveraging the characteristics and industrial advantages of offshore oil and gas.Under that circumstance, CNOOC will take full advantage of the integration of upstream and downstream, natural endowment ofoffshoreoil toachievethecluster-chain transformation. Secondly, focusing on 5 major directions-- “ in-depth processing of raw materials, customization of chemical products and research of high-end materials, green and low-carbon transformation, natural endowment of digital intelligence”, CNOOC will keep the precious, outstanding and characteristic path.
CNOOC aspires to work together with colleagues and universities, scientific institutes and enterprises to build higher platform, share innovative achievements, improve the integration of innovation, industries, fund and talents, accelerate the transformation of technological advances.To start with this forum, CNOOC will strives to turn a new page of self-resilience in China’s high-level refining and chemical industries to contribute to the construction of modern industries and high-quality development.
Zhu Xiaodong, the secretary and executive of Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Industry CO., LTD, indicated that there are much pressure in our national refining and chemical industries.For instance, obsolescence and integration were increasing sharply.We must concentrate on the core mission--transformation and updating, the path of high-quality development.Through technological innovation, the corporation has supported and led the industry, establishing a comprehensive management and research system for advanced midstream and downstream sectors.He believes that better, higher-efficient and more sustainable development will be achieved and the transformation of the entire industries will be injected new impetus.
CNOOC Institute of Chemical and New Materials Science signed the cooperation framework agreement respectively with Xi’an Shiyou University and Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Industry CO., LTD at the opening ceremony. This lays a solid foundation for university-enterprise cooperation.
When it comes to the keynote speech of this conference, several senior scholars, Gao Xionghou, Li Xingang, Chang Qiuying, Tian Yuanyu, Zhao Tongyang, Lai Chunbo and Fu Baosong shared new technology of lighthydrocarboncatalyzing and cracking, tendency of oil and chemicalindustries under the new circumstance, enlargement of distillation process, research and practices about energy conservation, molecular refining, high-value utilization of light olefin, which attracted deep reflection and enthusiastic response.
ProfessorQu Zhongtun, Professor Huang Fenglin, and Associate Professor Zhong HanbinofXi’anShiyou Universitygave keynote reports of the conference respectively. In addition to the theme report of the main venue, three special sub-venues were also set up to conduct academic discussions focusing on thehot spotof the refining and chemical industry, such as cutting-edge refining and chemical technology, refining and chemical transformation, upgrading and practice, and refining and chemical green and intelligent technology.
The successful holding of this conference has effectively enhanced the academic influence and popularity ofXSYUin the field of oil refining and chemical engineering. It is an important manifestation of the school’s active service to the national energy strategy, enhancing the development of the chemical industry, and deepeninguniversity-enterprise cooperation and exchanges. In the future, Xi’anShiyouUniversity will continue towork togetherwith domestic and foreign counterparts to jointly contributeitsgreat strength to promoting the green and intelligent transformation and development of the refining and chemical industry.
