XSYU Signs Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education Agreement with Unitec Institute of Technology, New Zealand

On the morning of February 10, a signing ceremony for the Sinoforeign cooperative education agreement between Xi’an Shiyou University and Unitec Institute of Technology, New Zealand was successfully held in the No.2 Conference Room of the Conference Center at the Yanta Campus. The ceremony was held both offline and online. Ms. Jasmine Groves, President of Unitec Institute of Technology, and Ms. Jenita Lapsley, Director of Academic Quality, attended the ceremony online.Vice-Chancellor Dean Rankin and International Education Senior Advisor Sean Li, along with their delegation, attended the ceremony.President Wang Jinfu and Vice President Zhang Rongjun ofXSYUattended the offline signing ceremony.

In his address, President Wang Jinfu extended a warm welcome to the representatives from Unitec Institute of Technology. He noted that China-New Zealand relations enjoy sustained, sound and steady development, and educational cooperation between the two countries serves as an important bridge for people-to-people exchanges and common development. The university adheres to an opendoor approach to education. Since the two universities signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in February 2025, both sides have continuously deepened communication and refined cooperation measures.

He expressed the hope that, taking this signing as a new starting point, the two universities will jointly build a new system for international talent cultivation, foster a new ecosystem for international industryuniversityresearchapplication collaboration, and expand a new platform for China-New Zealand people-to-people exchanges, so as to elevate bilateral cooperation to a new level.

She stated that Unitec Institute of Technology has long been committed to providing students with a highquality teaching environment and sustainable learning support. This cooperation marks an important step for the two universities to face the future and deepen international educational cooperation. It will offer a highquality platform for teachers and students of both sides to engage in more exchanges, interactive learning, innovative study and practical improvement, further consolidating and expanding the practical cooperation outcomes between the two universities in the era of smart education.

Wang Jinfu and Jasmine Groves signed the Sinoforeign cooperative education agreement on behalf of the two universities respectively. Dean Rankin and Zhang Rongjun jointly witnessed the signing.

This signing is an important milestone in the history of Sinoforeign cooperative education between the two universities. Taking this opportunity, both sides will accelerate the implementation and effectiveness of the cooperative education program, contributing wisdom and strength from higher education to deepening China-New Zealand educational cooperation and exchanges, and supporting the transformation and development of the energy industry.

After the signing ceremony, the two sides held in-depth discussions on core topics including the future co-construction of the curriculum system, faculty selection, student support, and education quality assurance for the cooperative education program. The specific measures for the next stage of cooperation were further clarified, laying a solid foundation for the efficient and orderly progress of follow-up cooperation.

After the meeting, Dean Rankin and his delegation visited the Iron Man Wang Jinxi Memorial Hall and the University History Museum at the Huyi Campus ofXSYU.
