As the year draws to a close, the road ahead shines bright with promise. We are about to bid farewell to 2025—a year full of determination and progress—and step into 2026, a new journey that carries both thegloryof Xi'an ShiyouUniversity's 75th anniversary and the significant task of launching the “15th Five-Year Plan.” At this wonderful moment when the new year is about to begin, on behalf of XSYU, we extend our sincerest greetings and best wishes to allfaculty, students, staff, retired colleagues, alumni at home and abroad,as well asall friendsfrom all walks of life who care about and support the development of the university.
Where there is perseverance, there is achievement; where there is resolve, there is success. In 2025, guided by the grand blueprint set forth at the Third Party Congress of the university, we remained anchored to the “Seven New Goals”, carried out the “Six Major Initiatives”, and focused on the vision of “A First-Class, Culturally Vibrant, andHappyXSYU”. We comprehensively advanced thedevelopment ofthe“Year of Discipline Standardization, Year of Talent Enhancement, and Year of Reform andInnovation”, driving remarkable progress across all endeavors of the university.
Lookingback on 2025, we strived for progress and quality improvement, with XSYU taking firm strides forward and embracing a brand-new outlook. Educationalqualityshines withgreaterdistinction.Breakthroughs were achieved in Excellent Doctoral Dissertations of Shaanxi Province. The integrated training mechanism for top innovative talents and outstanding engineers spanning undergraduate and postgraduate stages was further optimized, with the employment placement rate remaining above 90% for 30 consecutive years, sustaining a consistently high level.On campus, students diligently pursuedknowledge and honedtheir skills; in competitions, they won gold and silver medals; on stage, they showcasedtheir remarkable talents. Through their embodiment of the“Four Practicalities and One Innovation”qualities, they exemplifiedthe distinctive educational character of our university.Scientific and technological innovation yielded abundant fruits: research funding received increased by 20.69% year-on-year, hitting a new high; the number of sci-tech awards at or above the provincial and ministerial levels andtheapproved national-level projects doubled year-on-year. We successfully obtained the second-level confidentiality qualification certification for weapons and equipment research and production units.Additionally, the self-developed“Lixing”Petroleum Artificial Intelligence Large Model was officiallyreleased; the University Science and Technology Park was inaugurated and put into operation;theHainan Research Institute was established and launched;industry empowerment has vigorously unleashed the university’s vitality in scientific and technological innovation.Discipline construction has advanced through iterative upgrading.The structure of disciplines and specialties has been further optimized, with new additions to the“Best Chinese Disciplines”by Soft Science and the ESI global top 1% disciplines.Five interdisciplinary programs and 16 micro-specialties have been established.Impressive breakthroughs have been made in the cultivation and recruitment of talents.Dean Wang Xiangzeng was successfully elected as an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The university’s national-level Huang Danian-style Teacher Team and fellows of the Chinese Chemical Engineering Society were successively selected. Over 20 high-level talents were introduced and cultivated throughout the year, and the Lixing Scholars Support Program accumulated momentum for talent growth. The quality of talent cultivation became more prominent and solid, making the“talent pyramid”of the university sharper at the top and more solid at the base.Opening-up and integration have been promoted with improved quality and expanded scope.the Luban Workshop in Turkmenistan, the branch campus in Uzbekistan, and the Chinese Workshop made steady progress; we established new cooperation with 14 overseas high-level universities, successfully joined the Shanghai Cooperation Organization University, and obtained the qualification to recruit doctoral students under the Chinese Government Scholarship Program for international students. The scale of international student enrollment has ranked first among provincial universities for four consecutive years, and the influence of educational internationalization continued to rise.We signed one-on-one strategic cooperation agreements with PetroChina, Sinopec and CNOOC, and visited 128 enterprises, public institutions and local governments, deepening university-enterprise collaboration and university-local linkage.Governance efficiency has been enhanced with coordinated and high-performance outcomes.XSYU’s comprehensive income reached a new high; the “1+10” plan for the integrated reform of education, science & technology and talent development was advanced systematically; the administrative body officially settled in Huyi Campus, bringing services closer to teachers and students; the School of Pipeline Engineering was established in response to development needs; and the layout of schools and departments was continuously optimized, laying a more solid foundation and injecting stronger impetus into XSYU’s development.
Looking back on 2025, we united our hearts and forged our spirits,with the cultural spirit of XSYU flowing through and its profound heritage enduring.Scene culture nurtures elegance and charm. The warm glow of“I❤XSYU”shines brightly on Yanta Campus, while Huyi Campus boasts a calm and refined overall style. Chuxin Square is picturesque in all seasons. The statue of Confucius, the ancient sage, standsembraced bybuildings, and the statue of Du Bicheng, the revolutionary educator, faces Nanshan. The national flag from Tiananmen Square, displayed during the 70th anniversary of the university’s founding, sparkles in the University History Museum, making the cultural atmosphere of XSYU richerand more tangible.Art and history-related culture has been enriched and enlivened.XSYU Memorieshas brought the past to life through images. The musical Party lecture themedThe Long March Suitehas resounded across Chang’an.The original musicalI Explore Oil for My Motherlandhas echoed the initial aspirations, and the university chorus graced the stage of the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA). The spiritual inheritance of XSYU students merges into the youthful harmony of the new era, where cultural confidence thrives vigorously.
Looking back on 2025, we united as one to pursue our dreams. Happy XSYU is filled with warmth and collective unity. Campus conditions continue to improve.The Comprehensive Experiment and Training Center for Green and Low-Carbon Energy has risen steadily, the main structures of Student Dormitory Buildings 21 and 22 have been capped, and core computing resources have been expanded and upgraded. The foundation for the long-term development of physical and digital spaces has become more solid.People's wellbeing initiatives have been fully implemented.The dining halls on both campuses offer a more pleasant environment and more delicious meals; the faculty canteen and Yuandongli Living Block have taken on a new look; well-known catering brands have settled in successively. The university has made dedicated efforts to“invest in people”, enabling faculty and students to enjoy both the down-to-earth homely flavors and high-quality catering services on their dining tables. By coordinating the enrollment of faculty and staff’s children, launching caring shuttle buses, upgrading the kindergarten, and innovating elderly care initiatives, XSYU has earnestly addressed the worries of“the elderly and children”. Introducing high-quality medical resources, innovating integrated medical, health and elderly care services, and equipping all three campuses with AED and other first-aid equipment, XSYU fully safeguards the physical health of teachers and students.Alumni connections have been further strengthened.The 2025 Alumni Homecoming & High-quality Development Forum was successfully held. The Education Foundation has been revitalized with new operational mechanisms. Alumni organizations across the globe, scattered far and wide yet bound by shared roots, have converged into a profound and mighty force driving the university’s high-quality development.
Over the past year, the university has always upheld the overall leadership of political construction, thoroughly implemented the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and all its plenary sessions, and carried out solid learning and education activities on the in-depth implementation of the Central Government’s Eight-Point Regulation. It has further advanced the comprehensive and rigorous governance of the Party, strived to build two strong teams of “Iron Man-style” outstanding officials and excellent faculty members. Thus, the Party’s leadership has been consolidated and strengthened, and the effectiveness of Party building-led development has become increasingly prominent.
This year, the lights that stayed on in laboratories and offices witnessed the accelerated work style of XSYU faculty and students in pursuing their undertakings; the sunrises and sunsets beside the tower cranes at infrastructure construction sites bore witness to their responsibility as doers in overcoming difficulties; and the 190,000 alumni connected via mobile screens conveyed warm wishes, cheers and praises. All members of XSYU community have forged ahead with determination and concrete actions, successfully completing the arduous journey of 2025. Gratitude goes to every member of XSYU who has marched forward side by side, and to every supporter who has lent a helping hand. It is this collective commitment to a common goal that has painted the brilliant picture ofXSYU’s 2025.
Sowing a single grain with meticulous care today will blossom into a vast galaxy tomorrow. The year 2026 marks the starting point for the full implementation ofXSYU’s 15th Five-Year Plan blueprint, and more importantly, a crucial year for advancing toward the vision of a “Dream XSYU”. We will take comprehensivelydeepening reforms as the main thread, coordinate the effective implementation of the integrated reform plan for education, science and technology, and talent development, and further carry out comprehensive reformofeducation methods, school-running models, management systems, and guarantee mechanisms. Guided by the principles of differentiation, integration, digitalization and internationalization, we will systematically build a new development ecosystem featuring interdisciplinary research, integrated talent cultivation, collaborative scientific research, and efficient governance. In 2026, with a spirit of striving with full vigor, we will spare no effort to build an ideal homeland characterized by first-class strength, prosperous culture, and a dynamic and happy campus.
