On the morning of September 25th,XSYUheld the unveiling ceremony of Chuxin Square at south of the library on its Huyi Campus. Representatives of donating and participating construction units attended the ceremony, including Cao Qing, representing Mr. Yang Xiaoping personally, Tian Shengli, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Northwest Regional Headquarters and Commander of the Shaanxi-Ningxia Command of China Railway No.15 Engineering Bureau Group Co., Ltd., and Lan Ximing, Chairman of the Board of Shaanxi Boshun New Energy Co., Ltd. Also present were Wang Jinfu, President of the university, Cheng Yongqing, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee, and Zhang Juntao, Vice President of the university. More than 200 people, including division-level cadres working on the Huyi Campus and student representatives, participated in the event. The ceremony was hosted by Zhao Jian, Vice President of the university.
The president of Xi’an Shiyou University, Wang Jinfu first expressed his gratitude to the donors and participating construction units of Chuxin Square—Mr. Yang Xiaoping, China Railway No.15 Engineering Bureau Group Co., Ltd., and Shaanxi Boshun New Energy Co., Ltd. He pointed out that naming the square “Chuxin” (Staying true to the original aspiration) is not only an important milestone in the construction of the university’s campus culture but also a vivid manifestation of all teachers and students practicing red ideals and inheriting the Petroleum Spirit and the Iron Man Spirit. The square is overall solemn and spacious, combining a sense of ceremony with practical functions. It can not only host grand celebrations and gatherings but also serve as an open space for teachers and students to rest, exchange ideas, and carry out learning activities in daily life. The “Statue Group of the Founders of New China’s Northwest Petroleum Industry and the Founders of Northwest Petroleum Industry School” to be erected in the core area of the square in the future will condense historical moments and pass on the spiritual torch through artistic language. It is not only a concentrated reflection of the university’s spiritual outlook but will also become a distinctive symbol of petroleum culture in the northwest region. He hoped that all teachers and students would make full use of this space, taking it as a vivid classroom for ideological and political education and an important carrier for inheriting campus culture, so that “keeping the originalaspiration and founding mission in mind at all times “ would become a conscious action of all members of Xi’an Shiyou University, and work together to build the university into a high-level university.
At the ceremony, Wang Jinfu presented donation certificates to the donating and participating construction units on behalf of the university.
Wang Jinfu, Cheng Yongqing, Zhang Juntao, Cao Qing, Tian Shengli, and Lan Ximing jointly unveiled the square.
Cheng Yongqing gave a detailed introduction to the construction background, naming meaning, and design concept of theChuxinSquare, and briefly reviewed the construction process of the square. He emphasized that Chuxin Square is a core project for improving the campus landscape of the university. It is not only an important carrier for highlighting the campus cultural heritage and uniting the spiritual strength of teachers and students but also a landmark cultural landmark for anchoring the red roots, inheriting the red gene, and promoting the Petroleum Spirit. He hoped that through the materialized expression of the red gene and the Petroleum Spirit, red culture would be perceptible, tangible, and learnable in daily campus life, becoming a “red spiritual highland” for all teachers and students to strengthen their original aspirations and gather strength.
In his summary, Zhao Jian hoped that all teachers and students would truly internalize and externalize the connotation of “Chuxin” carried by the square, and transform it into a strong driving force for forging ahead and striving for success. He emphasized that taking the unveiling of Chuxin Square as an opportunity, the university will further strengthen the construction of campus culture, continuously improve the quality of running the school and the level of talent training, and make greater contributions to cultivating new-era talents who can shoulder the responsibility of national rejuvenation.
Tian Shengli, representative of the participating construction units, expressed his gratitude to the university for its trust and congratulated the successful completion of Chuxin Square. He briefly introduced the concepts and efforts of China Railway No.15 Engineering Bureau in the project construction and wished Xi’an Shiyou University to cultivate more outstanding talents and achieve greater glory in the new era and new journey.
Liu Yingshan, a student from Class 2502 of the Mechanical Engineering (Excellence Program), spoke as a student representative. She called on all students to cherish the superior learning environment, keep in mind the school motto of “Diligent in Learning, Earnest in Practice, and Persevering in Self-Improvement”, strengthen their ideals and beliefs, temper their strong skills, integrate personal growth into the cause of national development, live up to the times and their youth, and practice the original aspiration and mission of young people in the new era with practical actions.
After the ceremony, the leading guests, teachers, and student representatives in attendance took group photos in front of Chuxin Square, stopped to visit the square, and then visited the Iron Man Wang Jinxi Memorial Hall and the University History Museum.
