To celebrate the 41st Teachers' Day, Xi'an Shiyou University held the 2025 Teachers' Day Celebration & Awards Ceremony for Outstanding Faculty at the Hongshi Academic Lecture Hall on the Huyi Campus on the afternoon of September 10. The university's Party and administrative leadership, including Wang Jinfu, Zhang Mu, Wang Huiqiang, Cheng Yongqing, Su Wenfu, Zhang Rongjun, Zhang Juntao, Zhang Xiaoyong, Zhao Jian, and Zhong Yuhong, along with award-winning faculty representatives, all division/department-level administrators, heads of departments (teaching and research offices, laboratories), faculty representatives, and retired faculty attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Cheng Yongqing, Deputy Secretary of the CPC University Committee.

The ceremony kicked off with the playing of the National Anthem. University leaders announced the commendation decisions and presented certificates and medals to the honored teacher representatives.
Zhang Mu, Deputy Secretary of the CPC University Committee, announced the recipients of the 2024 Shaanxi Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, as well as those selected for the National Major Talent Program and the National Young Talent Program.

President Wang Jinfu, on behalf of the university, extended holiday greetings to all faculty and staff, expressed warm congratulations to the advanced collectives and individuals, and conveyed high respect to the retired teachers in his concluding speech.
President Wang Jinfu pointed out that a strong nation must first strengthen education, and strong education must first strengthen its teachers; the building of an energy powerhouse, in particular, requires strong faculty support. Our university has always regarded faculty development as its most fundamental and essential task.
In alignment with theuniversity’sdistinctive characteristics and educational mission, he emphasized the close integration of teaching and nurturing talent with serving the national energy security strategy. Regarding how to become a“good teacher withqualities:ideals, moral integrity, solid knowledge, and a caring heart” and a “guide for students infour inspections:ideals, learning, practice, and growth,” he put forward three expectations and requirements:
First, enhance political awareness and shoulder the glorious mission of“educating people for the Party and cultivating talent for the nation”with three spirits. We should be guided by the Yan'an Spirit to anchor the fundamental principles of energy education; break through development bottlenecks with the Petroleum Spirit to solve key issues in the development of industry-specific universities; and strengthen our commitment with the Iron Man Spirit to demonstrate the unique mission of teachers in energy-focused universities.
Second, strengthen faculty development and enhance teachers’sense of professional honor and belonging in accordance with the standards of“Four Solids and One New (Integrity, Pragmatism, Solid Foundations, Diligence, and Innovation).”We should empower and inspire teachers to become educators of“strong ability and innovation”; strengthen professional ethics and conduct to shape mentors of“genuine virtue and practical style”; and promote industry virtues to become civilized inheritors with“solid foundations and a spirit of transmission”.
Third, promote the spirit of educators to cultivate more talented individuals for the building of a strong country. We should adhere to devote to our posts, taking the cultivation of energy talent as our highest honor; cultivate moral character to become great mentors admired by students in energy education; and nurture a caring heart to use great love to compose a meaningful chapter in the cause of energy education.
In presiding over the ceremony, Cheng Yongqing noted thatin recent years, the university has adhered to the strategy of strengthening the university through talentdevelopment, guided by the spirit of educators to build a high-quality faculty team,and promoted the integrated reform of education, science and technology, and talent development. The university has also inspired teachers to strive to be “good teachers with ideals, moral integrity, solid knowledge, and a caring heart,” and to serve as “guides for students in ideals, learning, practice, and growth.” As a result, these efforts have yielded remarkable results in the development of the teaching staff, making positive contributions to the university’s high-quality development and the local economic and social progress.
Standing at a new starting point, Cheng emphasized that all faculty members should thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important remarks on education, fully implement the development strategy outlined at the school's Third Party Congress, and focus closely on the main goals of building a "Happy XSYU, Culturally Enriched XSYU, and First-Class XSYU.". He urged teachers to take the“Year of Disciplinary Excellence,” “Year of Talent Enhancement,” and “Year of Reform and Innovation”as key initiatives,stay united and dedicated, and work with greater enthusiasm, stronger determination, and more pragmatic spirit to make new and greater contributions to promoting the university’s high-quality development.
During the Teachers' Oath-Taking Ceremony, Professor Wu Xun from the School of Economics and Management led the oath. All participants stood solemnly and took the oath together, expressing their determination to strive for the educational cause of the Party and the people, and demonstrating a profound sense responsibility and mission inherent in the teaching profession.
Teachers' Retirement Ceremony
At the Teachers' Retirement Ceremony, Wang Jinfu presented certificates to representatives of retired teachers, while representatives of newly recruited teachers presented flowers to the retired teacher representatives as a gesture of respect and gratitude.
Teacher representative Liu Yafei, a Shaanxi Provincial Young Top Talent from the School of Petroleum Engineering, delivered a speech at the conference. Student representative Du Jiawei from the School of Earth Sciences and Engineering delivered a tribute speech.
To vigorously promote the spirit of educators, the university organized a variety of celebration activities during the Teachers' Day. On the morning of September 10, the unveiling ceremony of the Confucius bronze statue was held. University leaders visited and expressed their regards to teachers, carried out the“Lighting Up for Teachers” public welfare campaign,and distributed exquisite gifts to teachers who took the campus shuttle bus. These activities created a strong atmosphere of honoring teachers and valuing education.
