On July 28, 2025, the official overseas social media platforms of Xi’an Shiyou University - Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) - were officially launched.

Since its founding, Xi’an Shiyou University has attached a great deal of importance to international cooperation and exchange. By utilizing its disciplinary and professional characteristics as well as school-running advantages, it has continuously promoted the creation of high-quality internationalization of higher education. In the past few years, since the 3rd Party Congress of the university, the whole university has been intensively implementing the school-running concept of “Open Integration,” and has strived to establish a new pattern of high-level and open-door education, leading to a series of successful educational achievements. In October 2024, XSYU, together with Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University, China Education Association for International Exchange, and China National Petroleum Corporation, jointly signed a memorandum of understanding on the “Luban Workshop” in Turkmenistan. In June 2025, the university jointly signed an agreement on the establishment of the Uzbekistan Branch of Xi’an Shiyou University and a Sino-Uzbek energy talent joint-training agreement with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan. Furthermore, the university has conducted school-enterprise joint-training programs with Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, as well as jointly promoted the “Study at XSYU” program with Kazakhstan. It is estimated that by 2025, XSYU will have trained more than 10,000 international students from 95 countries. The number of international students at industry-specific universities and provincial universities is among the highest. The university is a Chinese institution that admits international students through scholarship programs approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education and serves as a “Demonstration Base for Studying in China”.
The launch of these two international social media accounts complements the ongoing operation of domestic accounts such as WeChat, Weibo, Douyin, Bilibili, and the video channel. Besides, it fills a crucial gap in overseas communication media and marks the completion of the university’s omni-media communication program. To maximize the reach of its global outreach initiatives, XSYU will strategically utilize two principal international social media platforms, both of which are firmly rooted in Shaanxi Province but are oriented towards an international audience. In this capacity, the university shall proactively pioneer an innovative overseas communication paradigm distinguished by “Chinese Discursive Authority and Petroleum Industry Specificity”, effectively disseminating XSYU’s quintessential narratives while robustly projecting the positive Chinese discourses onto the worldwide stage. It is intended that such a stratified approach will systematically enhance the global renown and academic gravitas of the university, thereby incrementally raising the level of its globalized educational initiatives through sustained diplomatic engagement and cultural resonance.
