From September 19 to 21, the national finals of the “CPEIA·Beijing Petroleum Machinery·Baoshi Pipe Industry Cup” The 12th Energy Equipment Innovative Design Competition for China Postgraduate were successfully held at Kunming University of Science and Technology.

XSYUsent 12 representative teams to participate in the competition. After fierce competition, 3 teams finally won the National First Prize, 2 teams won the National Second Prize, and 7 teams won the National Third Prize. The university was awarded the “Excellent Organization Award”, and three teachers from the School of Mechanical Engineering—Zheng Jie, Ma Chengyun, and Qi Wenjiao—received the “Excellent Instructor Award”. These awards demonstrate the solid achievements of our university in cultivating innovative design and practical capabilities in energy equipment.

The Energy Equipment Innovative Design Competition for China Postgraduate is an important national-level event guided by the Department of Degree Management and Graduate Education of the Ministry of Education, and co-sponsored by the Chinese Society of Academic Degrees and Graduate Education, the Youth Science and Technology Center of China Association for Science and Technology and other institutions. As one of the thematic events of the “China Postgraduate Innovation and Practice Series Competitions”, this year’s competition (i.e., The 12th Energy Equipment Innovative Design Competition for China Postgraduate) was co-sponsored by the China Petroleum and Petrochemical Equipment Industry Association (CPEIA), Beijing Petroleum Machinery Co., Ltd., China National Petroleum Corporation Baoshi Pipe Industry Co., Ltd. and other units. It attracted thousands of teams from more than 200 universities and research institutions across the country.

As the on-campus organizing unit for The 12th Energy Equipment Innovative Design Competition for China Postgraduate, the School of Mechanical Engineering has actively organized students to prepare for the competition since its launch. Through special training, mock defenses, expert guidance and other methods, it has comprehensively improved students' innovative design capabilities and team collaboration skills. The school has always adhered to the educational concept of “promoting learning through competitions, promoting teaching through competitions, and promoting innovation through competitions”. By organizing students to participate in high-level academic competitions, it constantly stimulates students’ innovative potential, strengthens their engineering practice capabilities, and cultivates high-quality engineering and technical talents who meet the needs of the national energy strategy.
